Tea Wallets!

Hello All!

In my last post I shared a lovely tea wallet
my friend Gale made....
(She sews beautifully,
all neat and tidy.)
This one is going in my best purse.

I did not even know they existed!
How could that happen?
lol!

Normally I would use an old zippy bag and put a variety of tea bags inside.
Eventually though, some would escape to the roomier bottom of my purse,
where I would fish while at a restaurant, only to cup up with old cough drops.

And how many times did I end up using an old crumpled tea bag!
I find this invention brilliant!
Also,
I was inspired to make some myself....
just because I love to make things!
(I am not a neat and tidy...)

There are many tutorials online for these beauties.
I went to Pinterest and viewed many different ones.
Wow! There are so many artistic bloggers out there!

Here is my first tea wallet!
I tried to make it proper,
turned it inside out to sew,
but I did not go all the way around
on the outside with stitching.
My machine wasn't fond of all the layers.

I used a vintage oval doily, cut in half,
for the pockets.

I found the tea cup graphic at Pinterest,
I could not find the original place it was
pinned from, and I did really try.
There are a few versions of it.
Here is one...

My version has more green in it.

I do like the shabby look of the old linen.

So I thought I would try to
make one even more shabby....

This one I didn't even to turn it inside out.
I thought since it was shabby,
why bother?
lol!

I used two different old doilies,
one that I had previously dyed.
It is delightful to have a stash
of textiles, some dyed different colors.

 Here is the back...

And the simple button closure.

Now I have three tea wallets,
one for each purse.
Yay!

What fun too.
I was so inspired by all the amazing tea
wallets I saw on Pinterest.
Go have a good look : )

I have a few more pinned and ready to sew.
Sewing seems to be my latest crush.

Happy Weekend
and
Happy Creating!

Thank you so much for stopping by!
Hugs,
Terri

These are lovely and a wonderful gift idea for your favourite tea drinker. I will have to make one for my husband who insists that the tea in restaurants is never strong enough and always totes his own.

This idea is new to me and yours are very charming; the Jane Austen theme especially.

Very nice job on the tea wallets. If I had the time I'd try my hand at making a few but, for a while at least, they will have to wait.

These are a great idea Terri. I really like your shabby chic versions using vintage fabric, lace and images. I am always hunting in my bag or briefcase at work for a herbal tea bag when I am out at meetings. I think I need to get busy stitching. Thanks for popping over to visit me in blogland. Have a good weekend. Elaine x

Wow a tea wallet? What's next? that's very creative though and very useful too. I like the old linen one. But doily seems fancy. I wish I could sew. Thank you for sharing this nifty idea Terri. Hope you are having a good weekend.

Blessings,
Aida

Terri dear friend,
your tea wallets are so beautiful, love them both.
They are wonderfully romantic both, and the materials you used lovely old! The piece you coloured yourself is the most gorgeous colour.
I think I will have a look at Pinterest to see more beautyful wallets ,and maybe try my hand on one myself!! It is such a good idea for someone like us ,whom brings with us our favorite teas!!

what a fantastic idea! I love the ones you made. this is a great idea for using vintage doilies, perhaps cutting out the stained parts, and using up bits of lace and buttons. what great gifts they would make.

Love how yours turned out! I am a coffee drinker but must find a reason I need one of these because it is so pretty with the vintage fabrics. Thank you for sharing!

I had no idea of such a thing! How could this escape me!! what a charming beautiful and quaint and practical thing! I adore the ones you made especially the lavender one with two layers! I love this, reminds me needlebooks which I just discovered 2 years ago too. What a lovely post.

These are so wonderful!! Never heard of a tea wallet, but it makes so much sense for toting around our favorite teabags, which I do all the time. I love the idea of using wonderful little scraps to make them, too--something so cute and doesn't take a lot of materials. Gotta try it!

Beautiful, wonderful, whimsical AND useful!!! I could never decide my favorite! Thanks for sharing. Since I have loads of vintage linens available I should be able to find things to make a few. Choosing will be the hard part I imagine.

I had seen these around a few times over the years Terri, but for some reason never thought to make myself one. Though I seem to be taking tea bags with me more often these days so perhaps I should look at doing so! Your two are beautiful, but I so love the shabby raggy one best and the colour is so lovely. Well done you. ♥

You're having too much fun, these are so sweet and sew purposeful. I don't think I could cut up vintage napkins though, unless they may be soiled or torn. Great ideas
