Sewing for Fun and Healing

Hello All!
Happy Friday!

Last week I decided that Yes I did want to create a slip cover for my
gorgeous (orange) couch, that doesn't seem to match with anything!
I have been dreaming about how nice it would look
in my art room in a soft white to match my rose adorned curtains
(see header, right side)...
So that is what I have been doing for 4 days, and I am almost done!
Yippeeeeee!

I watched a few YouTube videos and got the general idea,
then just winged it from there...
So far so good! I have finished sewing the liner and the top slipcover,
and have even finished the ruffle.
Just a few more touches and I will share a "before" and "after" photo.

It was a big job, but not near as bad as I thought it would be,
and boy does it feel good to start a project and not stop until it is done : )

This is what is on my table now...
Three more prayer flags for a swap at Creative Lenna.
I have dyed some lace, dyed some fabric, used some old tea bags, some beads,
and I still have the sewing and final embellishments to do.
Creating these flags is very enjoyable...contemplating the prayer, thinking good thoughts
around healing and peace....all feels very GOOD.
Thank you so much Lenna for an opportunity to partake in such a fine swap!

What are you creating this weekend ?

Thank you so much for stopping by!
Hugs,
Terri

Tea Cup Tuesday

Hello All!
Welcome to Tea Cup Tuesday!

It is now truly summer,
Everyone is busy doing things we only do this time of year.
So, to celebrate the wonders of this season
I have a short post
At the beach....

Playing with Photoshop on an image of a child's tea cup and saucer.....
I was very delighted to spot this vintage looking tea cup set.
(the photo effect makes it look old, but it actually is in fine condition)

A delightful scene of children playing at the beach....
This is a souvenir cup, and the plate says "A Present From The Sea".

And a pretty handle!

I bought this lovely set at a flea market, thinking it was vintage...only to get it home and see "Made in China" underneath the price tag sticker! Lol! So, I don't think it is too old!

I hope you are all enjoying your summer!

Visit my Joyful July Giveaway post if you haven't already signed up...
Three lovely prizes! Including the tea cup I featured last week.

Hugs,
Terri

Prayer Flag Banner

Hello All!
Happy Joyful July to you!
Summer is in full swing,
and Mother Nature is having hot flashes!
....just like me ; )

This past week I had the joyful opportunity to create a banner of prayer flags!
My inspiration is Gail of Creative Workshops ,
she very generously put up a Free video on the creation of
prayer flags for the members...(anyone can join!)
Old linen runners, bits of fragile vintage lace, tissue thin old embroidered hankies, vintage sheet music,
buttons, old millinery, and old photographs were lovingly gathered and rearranged over and over until
each flag represented a prayer or wish I hold for myself, my family and the world.
I even tried my hand at a bit of embroidery!
See my birdie above?

My deepest wish and prayer is for the healing of all...

Healing

I used this dear woman to represent the feminine spirit
She has such a wise and knowing gaze...

She has clarity and balance...

I love that she can come out of the pocket.

Balance....

My prayer for faith in LOVE

LOVE

Hanging prayer flags outside, lets the breeze carry the healing prayers all around the world.

I received an invitation to join a Prayer Flag swap with Lenna at Creative Lenna!
She hosted a mini book swap a year ago that I loved and I am excited to join in this swap too.
My hands are already reaching for more material to get started on!
Yay!

I have seen these beautiful prayer flags on blogs all over the Internet lately...and I am thrilled to have had the opportunity to put my prayers in form. I was so delighted to see the prayer flags Frieda Oxenham created and is showing on her blog. They are amazing!

There is also a blog dedicated to The Prayer Flag Project, and you can visit it and see many beautiful prayers. I have decided to take part in this one too : )

Thank you so much for stopping by for a visit.

Hugs of LOVE,
Terri

Artist Share -The delightful Art of Flora!

Hello All!
What a week of heat...I hope you are all keeping cool.
Today I am delighted to share with you the art of Flora, from
"La casa delle bambole di Flora"!
I was super lucky to win a giveaway on Flora's blog.....and it arrived last week!

She created this mini version of an old stove, just for me!
It is so very well constructed, it has many little details that thrill me,
like all the doors open!

She even included a pan of fresh gingerbread men and a kitchen towel!
Every centimeter of this creation is amazing.
I am excited to dust off my doll house and give this stove a new home.
I think my kitchen window will need a new curtain to match the blue towel.
As soon as I get it installed I will share a picture.
I don't know if I have ever shared with you all that I have created two dollhouses.
So much fun!

Flora also sent along a Downton Abbey ATC for me!
It is very romantic, with the lovely pink, the pretty lace and all the roses!

I grabbed this image off of Flora's blog (I hope that is o.k.!)
Just to share with you a little of her artistry with cloth as well.
She creates the most amazing little tiny things, that look so real!
A doll house will become a home with this kind of addition.
All the little details really give the doll house a special homeyness.
And Flora's minis are truly realistic looking!

You can visit her blog and see oh so much more at....
Thank you so very much Flora!
I am delighted with your giveaway!

And just as a reminder, I too am having a Giveaway, my...
Just click on the words above to see the post so you can enter to win
A beautiful Tea cup
Pineapple Quartz earrings crafted by yours truly...

Joyful July Giveaway!

We are all so busy in the summer that I thought July would be a great month to do this.

It was the prettiest cup I had seen that day.
The beautiful blue and pink roses and sweet birdie speak of summer...
Perfect to share with one lucky person!

Such a lovely shaped cup with roses inside as well.

A very pretty detail on the top of the  elegant handle.

This cup is in the Montrose shape and has a pretty gold trim around the plate edge
as well as around the modest footing.

A sweetly fluted plate edge adds a little elegnace too.

This delightful cup was manufactured by Royal Albert.
As the bottom says...it is part of the Woodland Series, called "Humming Bird"!
This cup is about 30 years old.
