A Time To Say Hello

Hello All!
I have been away so long now,
and have missed all of you.

I came very close to posting in October...

It was the last time I had tea outdoors...
what a beautiful shower of sun!

Today's weather is not sunny, nor warm, lol.
Being the middle of December already,
the cold, dark days seem just right.

I had some "cold, dark" days this year...
in a health way.
I am happy to say I am on the mend,
just still need to be very careful and patient.

What helped me through this time
were my dear family, friends and when I was able,
some crafting.

Many of you sent me messages or cards of caring words,
I appreciated each and every one very much!
Thank you all!

(Creating really is good for the soul)

Dianne Buckley from the UK
made a beautiful Jane card for me where
she painted her own version of Jane.
I have used her artwork on the front
of this years Jane ornament.
Thank you Dianne!

Thirty years ago I made these same ornaments
with each family members birth date on it.
It was simple to do with Jane too.

Happy Birthday Jane!

And happy birthday to my youngest son
Austin!
(we haven't unpacked our ornaments yet,
but when I find his ornament I will take a
pic to post)

What a delight to be back in Bloglandia!
I am hoping to be able to continue posting.

This is a very busy time of year for most,
For those of you celebrating Christmas...

Merry Christmas : )

For everyone,
I WISH YOU JOY

Hugs to everyone
Terri

  2. Lovely to see you again, and your very beautiful works...Forgive me that I didn't know you were facing challenges as it seems to me every day is a challenge in my own little life. I'm being over dramatic perhaps, but still...it is truer than not. Is it age? Being on the cusp of seventy four years with a few elder complaints, or is it the world-the suffering world I pay attention to...or National politics (Monsterous), or Climate change (extinctions hurt my heart) ???? All of these. yet, beauty, friendship, kindness and compassion prevail and in that spirit I wish you and yours a very blessed Solstice, Merry Yule and bright New Year. And "A gentle reminder that life can be a cold wasteland of cruelty or a whimsical wonderland of grace, depending on the generosity of spirit with which we approach it." https://www.brainpickings.org/2014/09/02/foxs-garden-princesse-camcam/

  4. Dear Terr,
so nice to see that you are back again and I am so happy to hear that you are getting better.
You are so right, crafting is good for the soul. There is just something about it. When I am having a bad day and turn to creating something, is can be so uplifting to me. I love your ornaments ... my they are so pretty and the image of Jane Austin is just lovely too.
Look forward to seeing more of you in blogland again.
    Many hugs and Merry Christmas.

  6. Dear Terri, Sorry I did not know you have been ill. I have thought of you often and missed your beautiful posts. I'm so happy to know you are feeling better and gaining strength. Your ornaments are gorgeous and how wonderful to have some nice enough weather for tea outdoors in the autumn months. Right now we have a bit of snow on the ground from overnight and it is currently sleeting. I guess it had to happen sooner or later...
happy birthday to your son, be well, and have a Merry Christmas!

What a surprise , of the best ones !!
Your ornaments of this year ,are stunningly beautiful, with all the tension to every detail, and the love, you have put into them. They are so lovely, with all the details, and your wonderful chosen colors.
I love your wonderfully embroidered stars, with Jane, and her birth date, and the beautiful painted face, your friend, created for you, here transferred to fabric ,- both making each ball something special , Terri. The tassels gives a lovely feeling , and this ornament I can also see ,dancing in the wind, a lovely summer day !! You are a star with whatever you create, my very dear friend.

  16. Glad you are back. The ornaments you made are gorgeous! I have also had health challenges since the end of May and still recuperating. It has affected me quite a bit. I have had my whole life hanged and that affects emotions. Hope to be back to somewhat normal by next spring.

  19. Terri,
Belated birthday wishes to Austin and to Jane too. 241 years old and going strong - not Austin, but Jane....haha!
I cannot express my joy at seeing your post and your beautiful display of ornaments. Such a pretty box you have them hanging from. It's always fascinating to see how you create them, too. Great for aspiring crafters :-)
I love the idea of having keepsakes which mark important family events.
Your chaise on the porch looks so inviting but then winter afternoons curled up with a cup of fragrant tea and a good book have their allure too. A book is going in the post for you tomorrow which may encourage you to sit and rest awhile and continue to recover as it's so easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of the festive season. Remember, dear friend, healing takes time and when you begin feeling better, that is when you are most in danger of overdoing things :-)
You are in my thoughts, as you know. xx

  24. Dear Terri,
I was so pleasantly surprised to see your post on my sidebar! I'm so glad you are feeling better! I have thought about you and prayed for you every day, my friend. It has been a hard year for me too. I have stopped hosting my parties and just post when I feel up to it. I am able to rest more and not feel pressured to host the parties. I really needed that.
Your ornaments are simply gorgeous and I adore the robin egg blue colour! You have such beauty inside of you to share with others. Please do take care and I wish you and your dear family a beautiful Christmas filled with many lovely memories and magical moments.

    Hugs,
    Sandi

  25. Dear Terri, I am so glad your health is slowly improving, and I LOVE your gentle Christmas decorations.
I am about to look up your Marie Antoinette shoe pattern and make them for ladies to take away with them as I prepare for my mother's funeral. I thought these little shoes would make lovely keepsakes for the Carers and Nurses who looked after my mother when she was at her Nursing Home.
I made loads a few years back, and it just occurred to me that these would be lovely to give to people along with the Memorial card.
We have had an awful wait for a Coroner's report which has been held up due to Christmas, Public Hols etc. It has given me time to make a Scrap Book album, and write lots for Mum's eulogy, and to make the shoes.
thank you again for the tutorial, and I am wishing you the best for your recovery.
