My first attempt at painting "Marie"
How exciting to be learning new things! I took a class with Suzi Blu on drawing doll like girls. I really enjoyed that. So when Suzi announced her Marie Antoinette painting class I joined right in.
I have been learning about drawing and shading and layering. This photo shows the painting about half way done (It is 12 x 24"). It has gone through many changes already and will go through even more, since it needs much more shabbiness (birds and a basket too).
I will post again when I finish it. If you double click on the pic you can see it better. Thank you for coming to see : )
Awesome!!!!!! You are doing fantastic Terri, are you going to go all the way with the marks in the wood and the wax? I just couldn't do it at the time, but I can still add more to mine :) Love the music in her dress and again in her hair, and the tree is great too, she has such a pretty face :)
ReplyDeleteOH MY GOD, OMG, OMG, this is FanTasTic!!! I am really really really impressed, seriously, impressed. What an impressive talent was lurking just beneath the surface. I love your Marie and I honestly think you captured that spirit of the child, the virgin, the beauty! Congrats!
ReplyDeleteTerri, this is really a charming piece!!! Hope you are framing it!!!!
ReplyDeleteGosh, thank you Lynn, Marlynn and Peggy! You girls are really encouraging : )
ReplyDeleteI hope to finish her soon, I have been going real slooooowwww.
And yes, Lynn, I did do the cuts in the wood, if you double click you may be able to see them. I am supposed to highlight them with a stain color. I haven't determined what color yet.
She is supposed to be sealed with beeswax too!
Terri she is amazing! I took a Suzi Blu class not too long ago and had a lot of fun with it. I did not see she was doing a "Marie" class. She is wonderful!
ReplyDeleteThis is delightful! I 'double clicked'... and fell in love with the torn music in Marie's hair and on the beautiful dress.. I love the shape of the dress... its a really warm, fun piece. Well done!
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see the progress/finished piece.

This is really outstanding! I just love the Suzi Blu style! I hope you make some Moo cards or ATCs or something with this piece of art also. It is too good not to share!

Thank you Gina! I really appreciate your comments.
ReplyDeleteAll you have to do it set up an account, I believe. No approval process. I would love to see you there. We are doing a monthly ATC lottery. I won last month and now ATCs are arriving in the mail! Woohoooo!
