Tea Cup Tuesday!
Happy Tuesday!
Spring is definitely here now. All the flowering trees have dressed themselves in their finest. Our flowering Cherry looks like heaven to me. By Easter Sunday the dogwood will open its gorgeous flowers and as it sits right outside the large dining room window it will be a beautiful display during our family celebration!
The tea cup I am showing today is from Austria. I bought it when I was up in Canada.
I am fascinated by the history I find when looking up one of my cups. This cup, made by Moritz Zdekauer, seems to have been made in the early years after he bought the china company from someone else in 1884, a new stamp was used in 1891, so it appears that this one was created between those years. Which would make it around 120 years old!
It is a very delicate piece of porcelain, you can see through the cup and saucer if you hold it up to the light. I do love the green and pinks and especially love the intricate gold trim.
I love to look for special cups when I travel and I was lucky to pick this one up when I was in Canada. This cup is perfect for a fine black tea with cream and sugar!
If you want to join in for Tea Cup Tuesday, just fill in the two blanks below and hit enter. You will be automatically joined to the list, and then we can all come and see your lovely china.
Hugs,
Terri
I've decided to join in on the Tuesday teacup. I don't know that I have anything quite as rare as others, but I do have a few pretty cups to share; The one from Austria is beautiful! Marcia
ReplyDeleteHi Terri, That's a very beautiful teacup! How wonderful that you could find out so much about it. I love thin porcelain and find that tea or coffee tastes much better than from a thick chinaware or earthware cup.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Julia
Oh Terri what a totally gorgeous cup and saucer! I absolutely adore all things pink and green! I have been so worried about your health this week.. I pray you are feeling better...
ReplyDeleteTake care
Lots of love

Hi Terri: Your tea cup is stunning. I love that you educate us too. Thanks for thank. Blessings, Martha
ReplyDeleteI really love this design. The floral decoration is so beautifully designed!
ReplyDeleteHello there dear lady,
ReplyDeleteI have noticed your dear little green teacup logo on other blogs recently, those that have also particapated in several Tuesday tea memes. I have wanted to join in the past, yet didn't. So now, here I am and delighted to be here and able to join you!
I have recently acquired a new set of six pastel colored teacups, edged in gold. Alas however, they have no particular provenence, yet they are quite pretty.
In my latest teatime post, I have also shown a pretty pastal pink teacup with a floral motif that is probably a couple, to perhaps several decades old, yet both are rare or as fine as your exquisite 150 year old teacup. Good for you, and excellant find!
I can hardly wait for next week now, as I do have much older, finer pieces to share later..,
Do please visit me also, where I serve 'afternoon teas' as well..,
Cheers from Wanda Lee @ The Plumed Pen
