Hello All, welcome to another Tea Cup Tuesday.
I am naming today's "Beauty" because I think the cup I am showing today is very beautiful. I only recently came to have this cup. This is a coffee-can style cup. The pink color is amazing. The gold details bring out the beauty of the flowers and colors. It is a generous size as well. I wish I had an idea who made it so I could guess at the date, but there are only a few tiny gold handwritten numbers that read, "1039".
I loved it when I saw it,
and even though it doesn't have a backstamp, I wanted to bring it home with me.

I loved it when I saw it,
and even though it doesn't have a backstamp, I wanted to bring it home with me.
Unfortunately, by the time I arrived at home, it had a crack in it. It was probably already cracked and it just found the trip in the car too tiring. I know how it feels. So I was only a little disappointed. For some reason, when I find something that has a defect, I feel quite loving towards it. Sigmund Freud would have something to say about that!
It reminds me of my doggie's veterinarian. He has a cat with a broken back. His back legs do not work at all and he manages to get around anyways.
My husband asked the vet about him and he said that he thought the cat was still having a good life, and that it sent a message to everyone who saw him that just because something is broken doesn't mean you throw it away.
My heart melted when I heard this. I know that I cannot compare a cup to a cat, but the sentiment still holds true.

Everything and everyone is valuable. No matter what.
I may not ever be able to drink from this cup,
but I can still drink in its beauty every time I look at it.
Thank you all for stopping by today. I am so glad you could come by. Please visit Martha as well, she has the most gorgeous tea cups I have ever seen.
If you would like us to come and see your tea cup, please make your post first, and then come back and sign up with Mr. Linky below. ReplyDeleteDenise
What a stunning beauty!
ReplyDeleteLovely cup, Terri. The pink is amazing. Sometimes the imperfections make things even more precious. (Love the White Rabbit music!)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful teacup and saucer and more importantly a beautiful story to remind us that everything and everyone is important. I too love the "orphans". Happy sipping...
ReplyDeleteOh, the lovely broken cup has a wonderful home! Maybe you could put a candle in it, or a cupcake! It is so lovely!
ReplyDeleteHello Terri- Your teacup is lovely even with a crack. Beautiful. I'm glad that it still brings you joy. I have several cracked and flawed dishes that I keep as my "special dishes". Take care.
ReplyDeleteThis is one of the prettiest teacups ever. The colour is so delicate and your roses compliment its beauty.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing the story and the lesson is so true.
Blessings, Pam
Beauty indeed! I love the soft delicate pink. I feel the same way about defects. If it's old its going to have something wrong with it. lol! all the more reason to give it more love'n care and attention.
ReplyDeleteYour vet sounds awesome....poor kitty.
This one is gorgeous! I have a very difficult time finding pink tea cups - especially ones that are as unique as this one.
ReplyDeleteCheers,
Hollhy
Beautiful teacup Terri, the color is gorgeous! lucky you, you have such a wonderful collection!
ReplyDeleteMelanie :)
That really is a beautiful teacup, Terri. And I love the sentiment that you have. Just because something isn't perfect, it doesn't mean it's not beautiful or worth keeping.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Patti
Oh Terri, That is one of the most beautiful tea cups I have seen, I love the pale pink color and all the beautiful flowers on it. I have been looking for beautiful tea cups at antique stores and just cannot find really pretty ones. Yours is lovely. Well have a wonderful week and thanks for sharing. Hugs, Terri
ReplyDeleteThat is a wonderful teacup. It is such a lovely pale pink and I really like the gold patterns.
ReplyDeleteThe cup and saucer are very pretty, and your vet sounds like a great guy. Yes, I think everything and everyone has a PURPOSE.
ReplyDeleteBE BLESSED :-)
Oh Terri that is just the loveliest cup I have seen in ages! The crack only places it in the realm of something truly well used and loved. I have always thought that the best thing that can be said of anything or anyone is that it was well used!

Hello there Terri,
ReplyDeleteThis is just so precious and pignantly beautiful; (both the teacup and the touching story about the cat, and all things broken and yet very beautiful); with usefullness, dignity and grace, far beyond what some may see at first glance Terri!..,A great metaphor for life in general!
What a lovely color pink, and with the touches of gold and also the pretty floral motif, this is just such a pretty teacup and saucer!
Thanks for co-hosting yet another delightful Teacup Tuesday!

Your message today is so touching and inspirational. You are right about not throwing things of value (be they sentimental or otherwise) away just because they are broken. And this is a beautiful cup and saucer. You can really see the lovely pink color. Happy Tea Cup Tuesday to you.
ReplyDeleteWell I think I messed up my first post so will try again, lol.
ReplyDeleteThe tea cup is lovely and I am so glad it will have a home with you even with it's imperfection. Life is often imperfect, is it not?
have a wonderful day Terri,
Catherine
More lush goodies I have to go back and have a closer look and a catch up

ReplyDeleteA beautiful teacup -- but then I think ALL teacups are beautiful! I must admit that I do like pink ones awfully much.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful tea cup and saucer! I love the message the story gives, so true!
ReplyDeleteKatherine
Hi Terri! I am so pleased to meet you. I have "known" Martha for awhile and she suggested I join you ladies. I am so glad I did! I just love tea cups ~ I have ones that match and ones that don't. (I have a soft spot for what I call orphan tea cups and saucers ~ you know, the ones that are all that's left of what was a complete set.) Your tea cup is just beautiful ~ so delicate and lovely. The color is perfect. You asked about the provence of one of my tea cups - the white shallow one with the rose pattern is from Germany, or that's what's stamped on the back. It says J&C on the back and the pattern I believe is named Louise - or at least that's my interpretations of the markings. I have a pair of those ~ I found them in an antique shop somewhere. They are very delicate and I just love them.
ReplyDeleteTerri...I have to agree with you that your teacup is so very beautiful. I have a couple of teacups I call my "tender" teacups because I have to handle them oh so tenderly. But yes...you can still drink in the beauty of your cup and enjoy the beautiful colors. Thank you for sharing! Hugs!
ReplyDeleteHi Terri,
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely cup! Where do you keep them all??!! I hope they are on display all the time?
Very loving words on the cat and on things great and small that matter to all of us.
I was in the Champagne-Ardennes (2 hrs from Paris)for four days and certainly thought of you and your roaming around in Paris. Unfortunately we did not have time for a 'brocante' on Sunday.
Anyhow, my present post and the next ones will all be on the days (and teacups!) in France.
All of you, have a wonderful day!
Dear Terri, that is one pretty teacup in pink! I love the cup even tho' it has some cracks on it..still it add history to the cup.. thanks for sharing and you seems to have beautiful collection of teacups each & every week!
ReplyDeletehave a great day!

What a beauty! It doesn't matter if you can't drink from it - you can't see it when you're drinking from it anyway!
ReplyDeleteOh I am so happy I came by today and I have joined you as well in linking up!
ReplyDeleteThat IS a gorgeous cup! What a sweet anaolgy too, we can all look good on the outside, but we are not perfect. Sweet kitty story!
Happy Tea,
Lorena
Thanks for visiting my blog Terri! The teacup is Royal Albert. I love the flowers in the center and the gold trim. I love seeing your French photos too!
ReplyDeleteOhhh Terri it is such a delightful shade of pink.... just gorgeous and I can see why you looove it!! Too funny about Freud... :)

I agree with your story about the cat and the cup, everyone and everything is valuable broken or not. Love you, have a great day!

Oh Terri, that is an absolutely gorgeous teacup!! I would love to find one like that. So beautiful and so pink!!!!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous gorgeous cup in one of my favorite colors! I love it. What a great story about the vet and the cat. How wonderful of him...warms my heart.
ReplyDeleteHi Terri, such a beautiful post~ hope all is well with you. I just don't have time to keep up with my fav blogs lately, have missed visiting.
ReplyDeleteDebby
This teacup is beautiful indeed. I love dainty, darling teacups such as this one.
ReplyDeleteAll the Best,
Requi
Your teacup is gorgeous and your French tour is delightful. Sorry I haven't been able to participate in Tea Cup Tuesday. I've been so busy.
ReplyDeleteYes Terri, your cup and saucer are a real beauty! That pink colour with the gold touches and the reserves of handpainted flowers make the pieces very elegant and exquisite.
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't mind the crack either.
The golden pattern number in small figures could be Grainger Worcester. Coalport also used golden pattern numbers but started a fractional system once they reached 1000.
I have a similar cup and saucer, bucket shape, 3 reserves on the saucer and 2 on the cup, and also with neatly painted golden numbers, in this case it's number 2661.
I believe it's Grainger Worcester but I'm not sure. Let's continue our research.
Hugs
The last number on my cup is not very visible, it could also be an X suffix, and that would make it even more Grainger.
