Happy Monday!
Yesterday was a gorgeous day in our area. It was so lovely, I found myself on my front porch with a cup of tea, quilting in the morning sun!
That was pure pleasure!
I was counting my blessings right along with my stitches!

I am only just learning to quilt, inspired entirely by Frieda Oxenham, and I am totally loving it. Frieda's quilts are like fabric candy!

When I saw there was a beginners class at a nearby sewing shop, I signed up to make a sampler quilt. I did not pick traditional fabric though, a little more Asian,with some Batik thrown in!

I am loving the reds, pinks, and greens.
I am learning to hand applique.....patience is needed!See the script fabric, it says lovely things about life and friendship.

Hi Terry! LOVE the colors you are working with!! I also really like the script fabric...how fun to use a non traditional print! I have some UFO's in the closet. I stopped quilting when I started sewing for my daughter and scrapbooking, just cannot do it all. Going to have to eek out some quilting time someday soon. I have fabric waiting. Looks like you had a wonderful morning. :)

Terri, you paint a picture of a beautiful morning - a memory to treasure when you use your quilt. I love sewing and don't do it often enough these days. I did do some mending last night and it is such a rhythmic activity it feels good! Love the colours you have chosen and the script fabric is wonderful.

Hi Terri, Your quilt is beautiful. I love the beautiful colors of your quilt. I used to quilt when I was younger, I enjoyed it, but now I like to work on things that are faster to finish. ReplyDeleteMy Great Aunt who is no longer living was a wonderful quilter and made them for a living. I was in awe of the beauty of it. It is something I hope to do at least once. I am happy you are getting the chance to learn & love your fabric choices.

Good for you Terri - I love quilting and have been doing it for years. My first class at a local quilting shop had us making a quilt all by hand and had the different stitches, etc. I then made a number of quilts - even the quilt in a day on the sewing machine. Also have some wall hangings. Before art - I would swing between quilting and cross stitch and still do both. Love your colors. I fell in love with Hoffman materials - expensive but last forever.
