"Renewal" Fabric/Paper Book

Hello All!
Happy Saturday Night!

Ages ago I began a little book, and posted about it Here...

Now my collection Vintage lace and fabric/paper pages is complete!

Yay!

It is a very simple design, inspired entirely by Traci Lyn Huskamp
and her book which I talk about in the post linked above.

I let sentences from vintage books speak for me...

(This old stained piece of hook and eye tape finally found it's purpose
in holding the two worlds above and below together....)

...rows of vintage lace and scraps of  blue cotton...
show the layers beneath the soil where she lay...
and the layers of her subconscious as well.
(whoa, heavy!) lol!

(she is an image transfer onto muslin,
and I pulled it off while still hot so that some of
the transfer would  not stick)

Key elements for me.... rest and  refresh  : )

Layers of elements, images on muslin.
Divine help for healing,
and the joyful power of flowers.

The last two pages....
Being still...
listening to the birds...

More layers and bits.
A vintage calling card I altered....

A rusty ring found in the road,
A brass butterfly saved for twenty years.
Some binding from an old book that was falling apart.

The culmination of resting and rejuvenating....
"Renewal"

Being out in nature has always been refreshing for me.

As I contemplated what this book would be about,
A theme around the healing powers of nature felt good.

The winter can be long,
and this one has been quite dark and dreary at times...

Sometimes the winter can be within us
and not about the season at all...

Being outdoors,

being still,

present,

 enjoying the beauty,

appreciating all around,
I found will help me during both types of winter,

I enjoyed using this new medium to express!
Thank you Traci for inspiring me : )

 ****************************

Thank you all for stopping by for a visit!
I appreciate you taking the time to come by!
I may be posting Tea Cup Tuesday later than usual,
on Tuesday morning....

Hugs,
Terri

  14. Terri, Terri! How inspiring and BEAUTIFUL!! We have always been kindred souls in many ways - loving vintage textiles and especially with renewing and refreshing. I, too am on that path once again. Especially with a recent career disappointment I waited so long for (not the disappointment, but the outcome), but I know God has something more wonderful for me.

This book is so absolutely lovely. Your dyed fabrics and ribbons are stunning, and the total composition of the piece is MOST elegant. Yes, the way you pulled off the transfer so that it wouldn't stick all the way was brilliant.

All in all this is a splendid creation of your soul. I love it, beyond words - truly. Thank you for sharing this and inspiring me with something so pretty to look at.

Blessings for more wonderful creations for both of us,

    Marianne xo

  24. It is so very beautiful, Terri. I bought the book by Traci Lyn Huskamp because of your incredible inspiration from it, and of course, it is all that you say. Your Fabric/Paper Book deserves a better name that that, the likes of which I cannot find the words. Heavenly.
