Happy Tea Cup Tuesday!
Richard E. Miller (1875-1943) Afternoon Tea
Hello Every One
It is good to see you!
This past week we have had even more rain,
I may start to build an ark...
So with our soggy wetness,
Bertha continues to wait
until the day she can fulfill
her duty : )

I felt Inspired by the beautiful vibrant art of Mr. Miller,
He chose blue and white china tea cups for his tea table.
I chose this pale pink beauty, and think she may
look good on his table too.

Doesn't she just sing Summer?
I baked this cake inspired by images on Pinterest.
I had to improvise...
I used a gluten free cake mix base,
as well as pureed strawberries
and lemon juice for the liquid.
The cake reminded me of the healthy bread
my mother first brought home in the 70s.
yuk...lol!
But I must say, my strawberry buttercream frosting
was really something amazing.

The heat and humidity caused the cake to droop quickly,
so my tea on our back deck was swift.
I enjoyed a lovely cup of steeped herbs... chamomile, lavender, rose, mint....
Somehow I do not mind hot tea on a hot day.
Do you?

Delicious tea...but not so tasty cake!
lol!
Thank you for stopping by for tea.
The summer has been beautiful so far,
Even though the rain has been so persistent
I do not tire of it at all.
Hugs,
Terri

Hi Terri: I was waiting for you to post. Love the tea cup today. Everything looks so pretty in pink. Sending lots of love. Martha
What a lovely cup Terri and a super picture. I am sorry Bertha has not been able to have another outing, our weather is the opposite, hot, hot, hot and I am spending as much time sitting in the shade on our swing seat as possible! Your cake looks very beautiful, and after all your effort of assembling those layers what a shame the cake layers didn't quite "cut the mustard"! At least the frosting was nice - really the "icing on the cake! That tea sounds very refreshing too. Elaine x
Dear Terri,
thats a wonderful painting. I can see the sunshine and the heat on it. Your tea cup would look great on this table, too. And your cake looks beautiful like a wedding cake. Would be perfect to be served in the lovely Bertha tent. So sorry that the weather is not good enough. Thank you for this wonderful tea time and for hosting this sweet event.
best greetings, Johanna
Hi Terri, I love that Miller painting. It's so wonderful that so many beautiful paintings are on public display, isn't it? That reminds me, I should make a trip to London and visit the National. I'll see how many tea paintings I can spot. :) Your beautiful tea cup really does say summer and hopefully she will shine so brightly that the rains will have no choice but to dry up. (Before you have to build that ark.) Actually, could you please send some rain over here to England? I'm getting a little worried about my garden here. (Can't believe I'm actually wishing for rain in my second rainiest country in the world!) Lol. Hugs. x
So beautiful!!!
Hi Terri!
Your teacup is so lovely and would surely look pretty on the artist's tea table. The cake certainly looks good. Thank you for hosting and enjoy your week.

I have never seen that painting before and it is gorgeous - thanks for sharing it! Going on my PinBoard right now! Hope you are having a great summer!
Good morning Terri,
Your cake looks lovely although it may not taste the way you had hoped. I am loving your soft pink teacup filled with charming posies! Your tea of herbs sounds delightful.
I drink hot tea in the summertime, yes. My hubby cannot understand it but I enjoy my tea even on the hottest of days. Yesterday broke records but I still enjoyed my cup. Thank you for sharing your pretty teacup with us and have a lovely day.
Blessings,
Sandi
Happy Tea Day, dear Terri! Yes, your tea cup does sing out "summer!" It's so very lovely. The blush pink and the floral design brings on a calm sigh. The tea sounds delicious and the cake, at least, looks yummy and pretty...so I'll pretend it's as yummy as the tea sounds.
I, too, enjoy tea, anytime, even when it's hot. It's just a cozy thing. My mother always loved her cup of tea, too.
We FINALLY received rain. Here south of Houston, we've been in almost drought mode. But it's been raining these past two days, which has made the temperature divinely drop some, but the humidity is absolute, as are the mosquitoes. But, all in all, it's a divine day.
Thank you for sharing, my dear. May you have a sweet day.
Sending hugs,
Marianne xo

(hope this doesn't appear twice- the first one disappeared- I think!)
There is something good about a hot cup of tea on a hot day. When we lived very near the Mexican border we discovered that the Native Mexicans NEVER drink cold drinks on a hot day. They leave their water in the sun to make it even warmer - they say that drinking warm or hot beverages on a hot day brings up your internal temperature - which then makes you perspire - and that is nature's cooling system - very smart, those Mexicans.
They also don't use air conditioning in their cars, even when the temperatures are over 100 - they say that you get chilled in the AC car and then when you step outside the car you can faint from the drastic change in temps. We who are more spoiled with comforts don't try and take the time to adjust and live in harmony with the weather around us - it sure is a good lesson for us all - cooperate with the weather.
Your tea is very lovely - the dishes are amazing - and the price - that is super great. Love the flowers in your garden too.
Lovely, Terri!
I have that same pastel cup in pink, yellow, and green versions =) definitely says summer !
EnJoy your teatime today..
Hi Terri,
I loved the way you introduced this post, with a beautiful painting portraying a tea drinking scene.
And your china is so delicate, those little flowers on a pink ground such a delightful decoration!
Thanks for hosting this lovely tea, dear Terri.
Hugs
Your cake looked lovely, even if the flavor wasn't what you expected. But then, the frosting is always the best part anyway in my opinion!
Terri, your cake looks gorgeous. You did a pretty amazing job decorating it too. And just adore that lovely tea cup. So summery as you say. Thanks for hosting.

Just lovely! And so many lovely posts.
What a beautiful cake you made! It sure looks good from the picture! Love your sweet teacup and it is so perfect for a summer day. Beautiul painting, too! Thank you for hosting and have a blessed week!

You certainly have had a very wet summer. If you didn't have your lovely lacey Bertha it would be dry and perfect for an outdoor lawn tea. Instead your porch tea is quite divine. The cake looks beautiful. I usually drink my tea iced when it is warm. Beautiful painting for tea inspiration. Sweet Sipping Dear...
Terri your tea looks lovely today....
I still LOVE tea on a hot day. I find it really refreshing. Earl Grey, Lady Grey or Peppermint or my new favourite Peppermint Green Tea (Twinnings)
Sorry to hear Bertha is still not getting out... we have had extremely hot and unpleasantly humid weather. I'm expecting a hose pipe ban any minute!
ps I totally LOVE the painting you shared by Miller. I love the dresses but the thought of wearing one in this heat :(

Terri the cake looked amazing sorry it didn't taste as good as it looked (it's because of the gluten free mix I suspect) But what lovely china a delightful cup& saucer such delicate colour and flowers beautiful Dxx
I so enjoy your sharing these Teacup Tuesdays. And I agree it's been a beautiful summer. I'll take the heat, humidity, rain and SUN (!!!) over ice and snow any day.
That delicate rose bouquet on the cup and saucer is so sweet and it does make me smile with these lovely summer days!
I just love the tea painting. That's so lovely! And your blushing pink teacup is so pretty as well. The cake looks wonderful....even if it maybe was not a s expected taste wise! A lovely post!

...(O:
Another beauty!!!
Adore the pink. Your cake looks yummy, even if the humidity got to it.
Love dropping by and seeing your lovely teacups!!
Thanks for sharing:)
Lovely painting, and what a beauty is the tea cup! I have to confess, that I'm a coffee-addict...
Thanks for visiting my blog! I'm very impressed, that you have read even my Finnish postings - the google translator don't work very well with Finnish... ;)

Hello Terri,
Too bad the cake wasn't what you hoped for, but your icing sounds wonderful! No, I don't mind hot tea on hot days at all. Just for fun, last summer I poured some lukewarm tea from my mug into a glass over ice (even though it had milk in it) and it was great- reminded me of chai. However, I drink hot tea year round. Your cup is so lovely and I really like the painting. I'd not seen Mr Miller's art before.
Thx for hosting,
Shawn
Thanks so much for sharing that beautiful painting with us. Love the cup you're using and the cake is a gorgeoys colour match. As always your photography is just delicious.
Lovely painting, sweet teacup, and yummy cake ~ perfect recipe when weather is against you! xoxo Karen

Too funny, Terri - the cake is very pretty. There's so many applications there! I have heard so much about gluten and wondered if it is something like salt, coffee, etc. that they'll find new data or change their mind on. I agree, tea is marvelous no matter what the weather! I am so delighted to join your party and appreciate you sharing,
Kathy
Pink is just the perfect color for dainty tea time. Love the cake, I think I just slobbered all over my computer. You sure have had a lot of rain.
Pop over to see how my studio is coming along.
Love,
Linda
Your cake looks so wonderful dear Terri, but obviously you did not like it much :-) I though think you made a fantastic job doing it.
The cup is the loveliest ,sweetest ,romantic piece - and I love the painting showing the beautiful lasies having tea in the garden!!
I`m so sorry for you that the weather is still most rainy, and hope you will soon se more sun my dear!!
Hugs and love from Dorthe
