Hello All and welcome to Tea Cup Tuesday with Martha and myself. We love hosting this party each week where we show off one or more of our tea cups. If you have a tea cup you would like to share with us, the directions are at the end of the post.
This cup I am showing today was a gift from one of my sisters for my 50th birthday.
Isn't it beautiful? I call this my Bluebird of Happiness cup!

I do love all the little gold detailing.
This cup was manufactured by Coalport. The four digit number is the pattern number, and the T shaped mark is likely to signify who the artist was.
Coalport began using this backstamp in 1923. I haven't found a way to figure out a proper date yet. I am guessing around the 40s. The pattern is called Cairo (on blue and white).
Thank you so much for coming by. I am excited to come and see your tea cups. So if you want to play along, please make your tea cup post first and then come back here and sign up below with Mr. Linky. Then you will be automatically added to the list.
To play:
Share a tea cup and saucer
Share the history of how you came to have it
Share the maker and age, name of the pattern... of the cup if you can
Share a story about tea cups
Share a poem about tea cups.
Hugs to all!

Love the blue and white. I think that is my favorite color combination for china (although I love green and pink too!). I'm linking a little bit late today, but being late is fashionable, right?
ReplyDeleteYour tea cup today is a lovely gift from your sister. She has great taste. As much as I love pink and roses I am always drawn to blue and white. Thanks for sharing and also hosting another fun Tuesday.

Hi Terri!

I do believe that I have a small piece of Ralph Lauren fabric with this very same design on it!
I love your tuesday blues!

HI Terri!!! My dad would really like this teacup because he loves the color blue!!! He doesn't drink tea...but the other day, he did have a Sierra Mist in a teacup!!!! :) :) He's trying so hard :) :) I love the story you shared behind this...and I love that backstamp too!!! You could just try typing in the name of the company that makes the cup and the pattern name and see what you find. Sometimes, certain china patterns have a really interesting history to them :) :) Thanks for letting me stop by for a nice visit and tea with you today :) Love and hugs from Oregon, Heather :)
ReplyDeleteHi, Terri,
ReplyDeleteYour sister gave you a lovely tea cup for your 50th. I know you will always treasure it. I think your doll is so pretty, and I love the way you did her hair, very, very French!! You did a great job on her. I also enjoyed the last of your pictures to France (though I am a little sad our trip has come to an end). To see the Mona Lisa in person is fantastic, but the painting is a little smaller than I thought it would be. I used to do a unit on art history, and my class was always enchanted by Mona Lisa and those eyes of hers that follow you everywhere!! The flower markets were wonderful, too. Imagine being able to pick up roses like those every day. Enjoy the rest of your week, dear friend~ Vicki
Terri,
ReplyDeleteI really appreciated all the information you gave me about my teacups.
Thank you,
Virginia
Oh darling Terri! What can't you do? I am so excited to know such a Princess as you! Sorry rhyming. I do that when I am excited! You are a treasure! Blessings.
ReplyDeleteThe teacup set is very pretty, Terri. I like the bird of paradise in it.Reminds me of Aynsley and Hammersley...Christine
