Hello All!
I have had a chance to finish up my other arches for a swap at Paperwhimsy.
I have had a chance to finish up my other arches for a swap at Paperwhimsy.
These arches are for the Poetry group, and the poem is one of my favorites of Emily Dickinson...
Hope is the thing with feathers
That perches in the soul,
And sings the tune without the words,
And never stops at all,
And sweetest in the gale is heard;
And sore must be the storm
That could abash the little bird
That kept so many warm.
I've heard it in the chilliest land
And on the strangest sea;
Yet, never, in extremity,
It asked a crumb of me.
Each one is a little different, as I used many vintage materials and they are all aged uniquely. The feathers too are not perfect matches, but I think that is fine.
I decided to wrap them in tulle and tie with string. I think I will sneak a little Halloween candy into the package as well!
Now last but no least is the winner of my Domino Book Kit giveaway to celebrate my new class that opens tomorrow over at Creative Workshops!
The winner, chosen by Random.org number generator.....IS......
Bobbi!
Congratulations to Bobbi!
Thank you to everyone who entered, I am sorry I do not have 111 of these kits so each and every one of you could get one too. I will be having many more giveaways in the future!
This little domino book was created while I shot the classes for my Altered Domino Book class. It is my Tea book! Such fun! Tomorrow is the opening of the class and I am super excited about it. Maybe I will see you there!
Hugs,
Terri

Your arches are an inspiration Terri.
ReplyDeleteReally really beautiful details and colors. Love them.
What a gorgeous group of arches, Terri, they look fabulous. The "hope" feather embellishment is a fabulous embellishment. Thanks for stopping by to comment on my Asian book. I am sure any book you might make would be wonderful...with your eye for detail I couldn't imagine otherwise. There are so many styles and types of books out there. I did take classes in book art (bindings, signatures and the whole bit). Some are so involved and labor intensive. If I want to make a book in a hurry,or I get lazy,I use my binding systems.
ReplyDeleteTerri, beautiful! Elegant especially!
ReplyDeleteHugs, Diane
PS: Terri, I watched your tissue paper tutorial yesterday and...wow!
ReplyDeleteFantastic idea for mixed media when you want a wrinkled and transparent look! And there are so many tissue papers with designs on them that would give things a layered look. I even have some toile tissue! Hmmmm...you've got me thinking! Because I actually have some 8.5 x 11 acetate on hand. Thank you!
Hugs again,
Diane
These are beautiful, Terri. I love the arches and the poem by Emily Dickinson.

When this post first came, all I saw was the feathers with the Hope circle. Before I paged down, I immediately looked up the Emily Dickinson poem to send to you with a post saying how your lovely creation embodied that poem. Of course, then I paged down and saw you had the same inspiration. These are gorgeous and you rae so talented. Thanks for sharing with us.
ReplyDeleteLove your little teacup booklet...best of luck with your new class! xxoo Loribeth
