Tea Cup Tuesday-Halloween Tea

Halloween night!
Many years ago when I was a child I loved this night.
I think because I really enjoyed dressing up in costume...and being allowed to eat more candy than I would have in an entire year!
Now I am older, I enjoy seeing the little ones dressed up. But also, it is the time of crisp nights, and the  smell of smoke from fireplaces in the neighborhood wafting through the air. I've loved that smell since I was little. We had a large fireplace in our home and nothing felt as comforting as a fire crackling away. I may longer go out trick or treating, but I do find a cup of tea very enjoyable and I have a large fireplace in my home, so add the two together and you have my idea of a perfect evening.

Tonight I am using a new trio I recently added to my collection. It is a lovely set, with a pale mint blue ring around the plate edge. It is hard to see in these photos, being so subtle. It really is lovely.

This set has an elegant feel to it, the handle is simple, gilded and easy to handle.

I do not usually find trios, and it is a pleasure to have the extra plate for a treat with my tea.

What attracted me the most to this set is the pale blue ring and the lovely gold trims.
The design is so pretty! I love the scroll leaf work in the outer rim.

The air tonight is fresh and crisp. The fire is burning in the fireplace and soft music plays in the background. It is a perfect setting for a cup of spiced tea and a good book!

Two Tea Cup Tuesdays ago I shared the only cup I owned by this company,  C. M. Hutschenreuther. Now that I have purchased this trio (and one other one I will show soon...) I have three tea cups from this company. My cup from two weeks ago had the same backstamp except below where this ones says "Germany", the other had the pattern name and year. I wish this cup had the pattern and date!

As I shared two weeks ago, Carolus Magnus Hutschenreuther began his fine porcelain company in northern Bavaria in 1814. His sons eventually began another one not that many miles away. So there were two Hutschenreuther companies. I still have not found more info or backstamps for this company.

Nostalgia!
This photo is from about 1968, I was a gypsy that year, and I think my friend Toni was Phylis Diller. I had not seen this photo for over 30 years and just got it a couple weeks ago. What memories it brings back!

Happy Halloween to all of You and may you experience many treats and no tricks!

Thank you so much for all your comments last T.T. and thank each of you for participating. I was away for 7 days waiting for my newest grandchild, and he decided to wait an extra 9 days to arrive! So I came home to take care of some business. He was born healthy and beautiful on Saturday morning. I am heading back north to see him soon! My son and family live about 20 hours north of me. I skyped (yes, can you believe that!) with him today and was so in awe of his sweetness!
Mother and son are doing very well. Grandma is over the moon!

I will be catching up with your posts this week before I return to visit them.
Hugs to you all,
Terri

Martha and I host Tea Cup Tuesday together. Make sure you visit Martha as she has so many beautiful pieces in her many collections. She also has a website, Pretty Vintage Things,  where she sells her beauties!
If you would like to join in Tea Cup Tuesday, then go and create a post with a tea cup in it, tell us about your cup, show us your backstamp...(Martha and I love to see the backstamps!). Lol!
Then come back here and link up below.
We love coming to visit all of you!

I love your teacup sets that you shared with us this week. There's something about gold rims, they seem
to bring out the elegance of the cup and saucer.

  10. Congratulations on your new addition to your family. Wonderful memories inspired by the photograph.

Here in the UK we don't really celebrate Halloween, although it is getting more and more popular. Certainly as a child I never tricked or treated or dressed up, but then neither are my thing!

The trio is a delight, lovely colours and the gold rim just adds to its wonder!

  11. I ADORE your Halloween photo....look at that expression on your face! "I dare you to take a photo!". Oh, this is priceless Terri!

Your teacup 'finds' are splendid....I know the other cups are just as pretty. And the little pumpkin sitting in the cup is the most pretty photo!

Halloween memories of our youth are fun to revisit. I believe MINE included A TON of candy. Thus, the fillings in my mouth!

    Hugs my sweet

  13. Terri, what a beautiful autumny teacup set. Oh, I remember those beautiful crisp evenings with the aroma of fireplaces. That brings back so many memories.

We had a few trick-or-treaters, and I was so happy to see them in their sweet costumes. It's not the same anymore, with lots of children scurrying about. I suppose, like my son, they're all grown up around these parts. but what few we had I enjoyed.

Congratulations, grandma! I can only imagine your excitement and anticipation in seeing your new grandson. What a joy! I'm glad all is well, and everyone healthy and happy.

By the way, your nostalgic photo of Halloween is very sweet. You are a perfect gypsy, and I must say (especially since you love the vintage photos) that your sweet hand so gently posed around the handle of the candy bag is the epitome of the long ago vintage photos.

    Have a joyful day,
    Marianne x0

  16. Hi Terri

What a great cup, very elegant and your tea looks perfect for an autumny day.

Congratulations on your new grandson - shame he waited until you got home to make his appearance.

I am sorry I have been such a bad blogger, I have been following your posts, but time is so short I have not been good at commenting. I enjoyed your post about visiting Port Isaac, I watched the least epsiode of Doc Martin broadcast here last night.

  18. Dear Terri,
thats me again. You asked about the silver exhibition. It is hard for me to explain my thought properly. No, the big silver items are not mine, they are lent from other museums. I added that information now to my text. Only the flatware is lent from my collection.
When I visited first, I didn't saw the cute picture of you. You were such a cute girl and "Mrs Phylis Diller" made me laughing.
    Best greetings, Johanna

Congratulations for the new and precious addition to your family!
And you chose a gorgeous trio to celebrate the arrival of your boy!!!
I loved to see you in that Halloween photograph :).
It's funny how children in your country dress up for Halloween as here they dress up for Carnival!
I also used to wear costumes for Carnival when I was a child :)
    Thanks for sharing it all.
