Welcome to Tea Cup Tuesday!

Here is a happy Autumn birdie.....

She rests on this pretty cup I am sharing today.

This is the back side. I don't know what flowers these are here...do you?

This is the simplest yet most elegant simple loop handle I have seen yet!

It was the little bird that caught my eye in the shop, and why I brought this cup home!

There are two florals on the plate, this red one....

 And this pink one.

I am thinking it is almost time to buy a big pumpkin for the front porch, as these tiny ones are all I have at the moment. Just right for a tea cup.

This is the only cup I have from this company, C. M. Hutschenreuther. Carolus Magnus Hutschenreuther began his fine porcelain company in northern Bavaria in 1814. His sons eventually began another one not that many miles away. So there were two Hutschenreuther companies. I did not find an example of this exact backstamp online, I saw some similar. I have to guess that "Olivia" would be the pattern name and "63" would be the year manufactured. I could be so wrong : ).  If you know this company I would love to hear more about it. I know there was a merger and eventually a buy out. But as with most china companies, the history is convoluted.

This year has passed so quickly! I want to savor every moment of it!
I am heading off to my son's home this week to greet my newest grandchild! When I return, it will be time for Halloween already. I do enjoy handing out candy to the little ones that come dressed up. They are the cutest little kiddies! Emma and Betsy, our two Yorkies, think the kids are coming to visit them!

I hope that each and everyone of you are well and enJoying this fall season.
If you would like to play along and share a tea cup of yours, just create your post with your tea cup in it, tell us about it, and then come back here and sign up with Linkytools below.
Martha and I love to visit you and we love to see your tea cups.
Martha sells some tea cups on her website Pretty Vintage Things, a great place to look for gifts!

I found this tea tray at Goodwill for about $5. I am having fun fixing it up, and next week I will show it off! Yay! It will look much different. I wanted to paint it soft pink, but am changing my mind.
At this point I am not sure....we'll see : )

Thank you so very much for stopping by.
Hugs to you All!
Terri

The tray looks like an Avon pattern. I have an old plaque somewhat like it. I look forward to seeing what you do with it. Thanks for sharing your sweet teacup and have a delightful week.

  8. Terri - What a delicate little bird on your teacup today. I picked a bird cup up a few months ago - haven't featured it yet. A very interesting motif. And, yes - simple but elegant handle.

Thought of you again with my very British tea post today - hoping it stirs your good memories of such a lovely trip you took there this year - that blessed your readers with great posts about your travels!
    Joy!

  12. Hi Terri,
    Congratulations on your new grandbaby!
I love your birdie tea cup. He is just the cutest little bird. The pink flowers look like cherry blossoms and the brown little ball shaped things are the little buds before they start changing color, right? Maybe? Whatever kind they are they are beautiful.
I can't wait to see your tray after you've added your magic touch!

    Blessings,
    Sonya

  16. Dear Terri,
what a beautiful tea cup. I had not expected to find that it is from Hutschenreuther Hohenberg. Olivia is just the shape. I have a tea set with Olivia shape in my blog post here: http://silber-rosen.blogspot.com/2011/01/tea-time-tuesday-still-more-roses-noch.html. There I share some of the history and also a Link to an (German) Homepage. Maybe it works with an translator.
Your cup is truly beautiful, I have never seen such a fine bird decor.
    Best greetings, Johanna

  17. What I like about the German china of this period is that it is so frail and yet sturdy at the same time! The decoration is lovely, the bird looks so real that it could fly away!

Congratulations on the new addition to your family.

I am back from a break last week, although I did manage to link up using my iPhone (impressive!) but I didn't get to visit anyone's blog so I shall be leaving comments over the next few days.

Oh, I've never seen a bird on a cup before and certainly not any so pretty as the one you have. The bird is beautifully painted.

I am enjoying this time of year, and our temps finally cooled off today. The winds still blowing and tonight and tomorrow night promise to be very autumn-like...yay!

I can't wait to see what you do with the tray.

    Have a wonderful day,
