Hello All!
How are you all?
Well I hope : )
How are you all?
Well I hope : )
This is the third chair I found for my out door tea time project.
She is a sturdy little chair,
and once again, when I sit on her, my feet touch the ground : )
She had an interesting design painted on the chair back.
Looks like it was a faux burled wood treatment.
I love her two little spindles.
And here on the side, the grain is a "combed" on treatment too.
The years have not been kind to her embellishments.
She has a strong tight cane seat in fine shape....that is good.
I had to decide if I wanted to paint the cane on this chair too.
Here I have begun with an old white Annie Sloan Chalk Paint.
No sanding, I just wiped down the chair with a damp cloth first.
I put two coats on her, including her seat after all.
Here she is all pretty!
After this I very lightly sanded some areas.
Then waxed her down.
It is so easy to do, I think I may have done too much.
But I still love how she turned out.
She really looks old.
(even if I didn't like my distressing, I could just brush on one more coat and try again)
I must say, this paint is a dream to use.
The finished surface is a pleasure to the touch.
And I have such confidence knowing I can just paint right over it if I don't like it.
So Cool!
Thank you Annie Sloan for applying your creative genius
and and years of experience to work out this fabulous paint!
Here she is with her sisters....
Here you can see her distressed and waxed.
Quite a difference from her pristine state above.
I am delighted : )
Thank you all for your kind comments about my new venture in painting!

And this one too, a sweet little Limoges
She is light and paper thin.
So that is the update for how my garden tea area is shaping up.
It has been raining here for several days.
Tons of rain!
So my first garden tea has been delayed...
soon though : )
I love hearing back from many of you who are also going to post a garden tea on the 25th!
I am happy to hear many of your plans!

How I wish I'd known about this paint a year ago. Hubby stripped and stained an antique chair that came from my great grandfather. It looks nice with the wood tone, but I'm loving these light colours you're painting yours Terri.
ReplyDeleteI plan to take part on the 25th and sure hope for a dry day soon to photograph everything.
Judith

Your chairs are wonderful and isn't it nice to have them done! This is just lovely!
ReplyDeleteIt turned out so pretty...they all did. Your tea cups are really pretty too. I'm wanting more and more to try that paint but I just can't get myself to spend so much on such a little can...then, there's the wax. It sure sounds easy, fun, and looks so good though.
ReplyDeleteFantastic chairs! Such lovely colours.
ReplyDeleteI am back Terri.
ReplyDeleteI am fine, I know it's difficult sometimes to walk through the dark.

Oh! I just love this! I need to give these chalk paints a try. I love the distressing part. Is there a particular grade of sandpaper you use in distressing? I finally have the time to give to my art and have a number of projects lined up. And - and Etsy shop in the works! Art and teatime make such splendid companions, don't you think?
ReplyDeleteJoy!

shall I send you my addy for the outdoor tea party invite ? :):) Love how you have given new life to your chairs! And how lucky to find a chair with the caning perfectly intact. We were given two (one from family) but hubby had to teach himself to recane both(we couldn't find anyone locally who does this). It took lots of hours but he really did a fab job.

Las sillas han quedado geniales.
ReplyDeleteFelicidades
Hi Terri,
ReplyDeletewhen I see your pretty chairs I am a bit envy. They turned out beautiful and I can imagine how nice they will look at a garden party. Even the shapes are really sweet. Is this chalk paint wipe-proof? Yur Limoges cups fit perfect with the colors and sweetness of the chairs. This colors remind me to the 50th furniture. My mothers kitchen had doors in that colos. Thank you for sharing and for hosting this event.
Best greetings, Johanna
magnifique!

Hi Terro - back again and so glad you visited American Duchess! Oh - her shoes are on MY wish list! Can't stop thinking about that chalk paint of yours - may need to grab a gallon this weekend!
ReplyDeleteBlessings!
Kathy
BTW - what is the wax you use after you distress it?
ReplyDeleteKathy
Goodness Teri, you too? We've had only the slightest bit of sun here and there. I really am hoping for joining the out door fun on the 25th, and, with the hardwood floor being replaced over the next two weeks, it may very well be the only place for me to have tea! Love the Limoges cups. My mom has some spectacular Limoges. Might have to go over to her house and have tea there...lol. Have a lovely rest of the week and hugs to you. :)
ReplyDeleteYour chairs are beautiful! And such delicate tea cups. Thank you for hosting!
ReplyDeleteSherry
Ooh, I love your chairs! They turned out beautifully. I didn't know you had a tea party. I will have to join you.
ReplyDeleteHola Terri
ReplyDeletePreciosas te han quedado las sillas, las tres de diferentes colores, la última me recuerda a las de mi abuela. Hermosas todas y la tacita especial como siempre.
Te felicito por tu trabajo.
Un beso grande.
Hi Terri,
ReplyDeleteYour chairs are so pretty. I love them sporting their ice cream colours! I wish I could get some painting done but alas, my back won't let me. The pink Limoges teacup is darling as is the blue one. What a lovely tea party you are going to host on the 25th. Hope you're having a beautiful day.
Blessings,
Sandi
