Yay!

I am delighted to be sharing with you all again today.

It is just about that time of year when those of us who celebrate Christmas
get very, very busy!

So I thought that today's tea would be the calm before the storm! Lol!

A quiet pre Christmas season tea....

 My cup today is a pretty one that, despite it's bouquet of flowers, reminds me of winter.

I think it is the golden swirls and dots....and the cool color of blue...

They bring to mind blustery snowy winds. 

Fanciful I know, but I thought of it the moment I first saw this cup....

So it seems to be the perfect cup for me today, as I head into the Christmas season...

I just adore the flowers on this cup....the artwork is really beautiful.

a simply pretty handle.

The back stamp shows she was manufactured by Paragon.

Somewhere in the late 50s or early 60s. My favorite!

(well, other than Limoges, Foley and....)

My tea of choice today is Chamomile.....just look at these lovely flowers!

And some fresh gingersnap cookies.

Mmmmmmmm.

I dusted them with powdered sugar using clean stencil from my art room,

It was easy to do, and added interest as well as flavor.

Happy Thanksgiving-One Thousand Wishes

Hello All!

A Happy Thanksgiving to those of you who are celebrating today!

To those of you who are not, Happy Thursday!!!

When Thanksgiving comes around each year,

I am always more mindful of all the "things" I am thank full for.

And this year is no exception.

I am full of thanks for every aspect of my life.

 A dear friend of mine recently sent me a lovely box of goodies. 

Among the treasures she sent was this necklace.

"One Thousand Wishes"

"Oh my!", I thought when I first held it in my hands...

"I do have a thousand wishes in my heart!"

Hundreds upon hundreds of wishes...

for my husband,

for my children,

for my loved ones,

 for my country!

For health and healing,

For balance,

For happiness,

for feeling inner joy that has no bounds!

That is my wish for all of us...

Tea Cup Tuesday-Old Country Roses

Hello All!

Welcome To Tea Cup Tuesday!

Today I am sharing a sweet pair in 

a well known pattern, Old Country Roses.

Old Country Roses has comes out in many different versions over the years.

Here we have an everyday style tea cup and saucer.

The signature Red, yellow and tiny pink rose bud is the same, 

but the pretty fresh green trim is the most contemporary touch I have seen in this pattern.

The colors are really vibrant! 

The pattern style is Casual Classics, by Royal Albert.

Now the teapot, it is a different version of Old Country Roses.

The same exact floral pattern and color, but the trim is now a lovely sponged gold.

It does have a cute spout

And a very sweet handle!

Love the gold topped lid...and here you get a great shot of me too! lol!!!

Time for some tea....

a nice aromatic blend of peppermint, spearmint,chamomile, rose, lemon balm, and lavender.

Add some local sweet golden honey....mmmmm delicious!

My tiny garden is braving the cold night temps...

and here is a small harvest I brought in this afternoon.

I saw Michaela at The Gardener's Eden, share this tip on Pinterest for preserving herbs....

Wash and chop up herbs....add to olive oil and spoon in ice cube trays or,

like I did, in mini heart muffin cups.

You could add in salt and garlic too if you wanted.

Put the tray in to the freezer and let them get hard, 

Transfer to a baggie to store in the freezer for handy seasonings!

Delicious little hearts of flavor I can add to my cooking this holiday season...

...that will bring the fresh taste of summer.

Artist Share!

Hello All!

Some of you may know that from time to time I create a video tutorial...

and sometimes I get e-mails about projects that artists have created after watching the videos. I absolutely love hearing from those who have watched the videos and I totally enjoy seeing what they have created.

Today I wanted to share with you what they have kindly shared with me (with their permission). 

Carmen Willis sent me a very kind letter

telling me how much she enjoyed creating her Fairy School house. Here is an excerpt from her e-mail.

"...This schoolhouse took me almost 6 months to make. Since I live near a forest, I gathered my own moss and cleaned and dried it for this project. I still am adding little things to it, but wanted to show you, what I've completed so far. I made little chairs, a table and benches, a shelf to put little potion bottles, canned goods, maps & books...I had so much fun and enjoyed taking my time to make it."

The teachers and students....all gathered for school....

What a amazing school it is too!
(and she gathered and dried all this moss herself!)

Here is a tiny student standing on a spool, next to a shelf full of all kinds of interesting items!

One sleepy fairy....must have been up all night studying for the exam mentioned on the blackboard...

Are they not magical fairies???

 Barbara Mintmire sent me this picture of a group of beautiful shoes!

"My friends and I spent most of the day making paper shoes and crepe paper flowers based on your tutorials. We had a blast designing, cutting, gluing, etc., with breaks for a potluck lunch and later for dessert. Thank you so much for sharing the fun! I’m attaching a photo of our shoes."

 Here is a beautiful paper shoe made by Amy Bryant Kelly. She was very kind to send me this image and an explanation of her shoe..."This is part of a graduate project for a friend". Amy has used some handmade papers, and created beautiful embellishments!

I have been working on and off since summer on a new series for making mixed media jewelry...something I have a passion for!  But as this year has been super challenging for our family, as you may have noticed, I have not posted near as often, or any videos.....boo hooo!

I am keeping my fingers crossed for a really great 2013!

And hopefully my new jewelry basics videos will get done soon, which will be FREE...

and maybe even a video series much more detailed about mixed media jewelry inspiration and creations.

We shall see : )

Tea Cup Tuesday-Pumkin Pie

Hello All!

Welcome to Tea Cup Tuesday!

Today my cup is a a pretty one, 

with colors matching this lovely vintage table topper.

Colors just right for fall.

I have never noticed the decal mistake in the bottom of the cup...

but now that I have done this photo, I can see it clearly...can you?

See the small strawberry on the right? The decal was not applied properly and the fruit is shortened.

It is easy to miss a spot even this big, on a cup one is looking at to purchase. I still love this cup though...mistakes do not necessarily mean not to buy.

She is just so pretty on the inside!

I do love the cream colored background...
and of course the gold flower design around the cup!

 Tea today is Assam with cream and sugar.....YUM!

As you can see, this backstamp does not actually mention the manufacturer.
I am sharing this cup once more hoping some one will know if the gold crown itself identifies the maker?

 Each year at this time, I tend to start baking pumpkin pies...

Pumpkin is my favorite!

I like to try new recipes each year and this was my first one.

 

Pumpkin pie and tea go very well together!

.....and the pumpkin pie did taste quite good! Yay!  On to the next recipe!
(whispers...."don't tell anyone, but I think I do this just so I can have more pumpkin pie!")

Tea Cup Tuesday-Restful

 

Hello Every One!

Happy Tea Cup Tuesday!

For today, Please join me for a restful tea....

I have set my tray up with cream and sugar,

Pot full of Assam tea,

and 

one of the first new tea cups I ever bought for myself.

I usually bring home vintage cups,

But This one with it's bold pansies talked me into it.

Here first is the chosen tea pot for this evenings tea....

I fell in love with this little tea pots purple thistles!

The manufacturer is Wade, and English company.

This cute cream and sugar are lovely in violets too, 

They were a lucky find at a local shop.

Queen Anne is the manufacturer, another fine company from England.

And for my tea cup....

This lovely vibrant and deeply colored cup...

It reminds me of a beautiful painting!

She sits tall on a prim pedestal, and has fluted sides.

Her handle is simple and gilded with a little gold.
I love this very happy cup!


I still have some roses surviving the mid 30's night temperature...
and some hearty pansies.

If we have a mild winter, they may survive the season.
One of the benefits of the milder southern winters.

My tea tonight is reminding me of them.

This pretty cup is made by Duchess china co. which is also a fine company for their quality china and beautiful designs. As I purchased her new in the late 90s, I am sure she is no more than a dozen years old. 

Just think, 

Some day she will belong to one of my great granddaughters...
and then she will be a true antique!
