Memory Book of Grandmother

Hello All!
The opening of my new mixed media class on Altered Domino Books starts tomorrow!!!
O.k. can you tell I am excited about this???
You should see the grin on my face!

I wanted to share with you a domino book I made as a memory holder to my grandmother.
I only have a few blurry photos of my grandmother, so I chose an old vintage one that I thought resembled her the most and I crafted this little book that holds many happy memories of her for me.

I used each panel to depict something that I thought was particular special about her and our childhood.
One of my favorite memories is of her teaching us how to feed the birds in the backyard. We would save the crusts of our toast and put it out for them to have for breakfast. So I used the last panel to remind me of this.

And on the back of the pages I wrote out a thank you to her for all the happy experiences I had at her home when I was a child.

I do miss my grandparents. I have very good memories of staying overnight at their home.
I am very thankful for those memories!
You may have noticed that I changed the bead color from the first photo, I was happier with the gold pearl. I also stitched a little lace bag from vintage lace and silk to keep it in.

I also want to thank Gail at Creative Workshops for giving me an opportunity to teach what I love online!
Thank you Gail!

Thank you so much for stopping by!
Hugs,
Terri

Tea Cup Tuesday-Tea Cups and Vintage Lace

Hello All!
Welcome once again to Tea Cup Tuesday!
It has been quite the busy week here full of all kinds of creating.
My last post was a Mad Tea Party blog hop hosted by Vanessa at A Fanciful Twist. You may find it enjoyable to read and to see the whimsical table my daughter and I set. I even made the Mad Hatter's hat. I will share that in another post.

But today is for tea cups...so on we go to this weeks beauty!
Above you see one of my cups that I think is unique....at least a little.
Also, I am showing off a bit of vintage lace that I think has such a fab color of gray/green.
I know it looks a bit ratty, but I really love the color and texture as well as pattern.

This is one of the first tea cups I bought about 18 years ago.
I found it at an estate sale on my street. I was new to the neighborhood, and did not know the woman who passed on...only knew her to wave to as we walked by. When I went into her house for the sale, I was overwhelmed with a feeling of joy! The entire house felt so good, and I was sure this was the energy of the woman who lived there. So when I spotted this cup, it was like bringing home a treasure from a friends house! I brought home many items from that sale, and I really feel they have added to the joy in my home.

I love the gold trim. And I think it was only $5!

The flower is so pretty and seems to just flow around the cup. The leaves are an interesting shape as well.

I remember thinking what an odd shape for a handle....bat like even!

I thought the scalloped edge and the eyelets were beautiful.

This cup sits on a pedestal that also has eyelets.
Don't laugh, but I do not recognize this stamp! Is it HR or HHR?
I bet some of you know the maker.
I would really appreciate it if you could tell me : )

I covered this paper mache egg with a tissue paper transfer I created from an old French legal paper from the mid 1860s. I am still deciding what else I could do to it. You can view my newest free video on Tissue Paper Transfers by clicking on this LINK or going up the right hand side of my blog at the top and clicking on the picture of the tissue transfers.

And here below is my next and last gift to win for my Happy June Giveaway! This French inspired Domino book! You only need be a follower to enter, just leave a comment to this post and let me know you would like to enter.

Only two more days until I pick the winners for each of the 5 prizes!

Next Happy June Giveaway and new Video!

Hello All!
Happy Sunday night!
Tonight I am sharing two things with you....one, a new free video tutorial Tissue Paper Transfers and two, something I have made for my giveaway. If you haven't heard, I am having a month long Happy June Giveaway to thank all of you lovely readers! You can sign up to win this canvas as well as the other two items in my giveaway (that you can comment on HERE and HERE to enter). For Tea Time, just comment on this post. You only need be a follower to enter and win.

I will be showing you two more giveaway items before the end of June, when I will draw the winners names. I wish I had a gift for each and everyone of you! I wish you all the best of luck!

I created this Tea Time canvas by using the tissue paper technique in my new video. I applied the printed (and sealed) tissue paper with gel medium to canvas, being very careful to not let the colors run. Even though I sealed the tissue paper, the ink was still prone to running. I learned patience with this one!
The tea pot is a fabulous image made available by Karen at the Graphics Fairy.
Thank you so much Karen!

....as well, as some vintage trims, and rhinestone. I love using black with this parchment colored tissue paper! I wanted to create something fun, and this is what I came up with.

I am joining Karen for Brag Monday at the Graphics Fairy, I love seeing what everyone does with her images.

Now all I need is a tea cup image that goes well with the tea pot,
then I could create a matching canvas!

Hugs to you all!
Terri

More Fun with Dominos! Mixed Media delight!

Hello Every One!
Happy Saturday!
What a beautiful day to enjoy being alive and being creative.
I have been working on several projects and today I am sharing with you another domino book. I call this an upgrade as I have been able to figure out how to add more elements.

I have added some glam by edging the domino with rhinestones, and golden wings on the back. This book is also footed with 4 brass beads. The lovely girls are from my favorite shoppe at Paperwhimsy.com.

The script and flower images are also from Paperwhimsy.com

Sweet Friendship!

There is a key on the side along with some bead charms.

I have a Tissue Paper Transfer video all done and ready to come out, hopefully tomorrow. I am working on two others, a new tissue paper flower video and a domino book video (that is taking much more time to create).

My Happy June Giveaway continues and I will be adding another item to the giveaway tomorrow. If you would like to sign up for one of the first two prizes or both ( Yay!) click here and here.

You only need be a follower to enter to win. You can sign up for as many of the prizes as you fancy. I am so thrilled to have this giveaway to thank you all for your company here at Artful Affirmations. The prizes will be awarded at the end of the month. I wish you all the best of luck!

What are you creating this weekend?
Hugs,
Terri

Creative Fun!

Hello All!
I have been crafting away over this past week,
and I thought I might share a part of what I am doing....
More domino books!
I love making these!

This little girl is Parisian!

I really enjoyed creating this one, with all it's pink and glitter goodness!

The images I have been using are from Digital Collage Sheets, The Graphics's Fairy, Art Tea Life by Sandy Gordon and Narry from Etsy. Thank you to all these artists for making available inspiring images.

I adore this image of Marie Antoinette.

Here is a blue version of the same, only the inside is more modern.

It is a travel mini book....you could add some pictures and words to it.
(....this one is going to be in an upcoming giveaway).

Here is the back...I just happened to have a little suitcase charm that includes Paris on it.

Side view.

This glittery one is not quite done.

Here is the back, I am still working on the other side.

This one is one of my favorites because of the cool crackly and antiqued finish.

A little vintage lace and closure...

And an inside that is vintage on the front...

And the back.

Happy Friday!
I hope for you two days of creating something you love!
Thank you so much for stopping by.
(and yes, I did say I was having a giveaway...I will be posting about it soon, many gifts to win!)
Hugs,
Terri
